Excellent view into different cultures to the first millennium

Thorgils, the first-person narrator of the story comes as a child of a Greenlander and an Irish woman born. From his father he inherited the urge to always discover new places from his mother, the capacity of a seer. In the first book he tells the story of his youth and his diverse training (cross country, Christian and Celtic).

Auch danach dauert es noch eine ganze Weile, bis der Leser sich auf den Protagonisten einlassen kann und wirklich tief in die Geschichte gezogen wird.

Und dennoch halte ich das Buch für ein wirklich herausragendes Werk im Bereich der historischen Erzählungen, denn ab der zweiten Hälfte taucht man wirklich tief in die Welt des Mittelalters ein.
